No more excuses
I did it. I just completed Day 1 of the C25K program. OUCH. Because of the rain, I couldn't do it this morning and had thought I'd do it tonight when my husband came home from karate. Then I wondered what other excuse I'd have to NOT do it today. So, without thinking about it another second, I got dressed and headed out the door. It was hard, I had to stop running a few seconds early most of the run sessions but I didn't quit. I kept up the "I'll keep going till I get to that next tree or stop sign" and then I would say "ok, keep going till that next trash can or the white truck, etc.". One of the few run sessions I managed to zone out and run the entire 60 seconds, so obviously I need to try doing that again. I also kept Jillian's voice (from Biggest Loser) yelling in my head to keep going and not quit.

WTG Sharon!! It does get easier I promise!! I had a HARD time when I first started. My friend (who was a runner) told me something that has stuck to me till this day. If you can't make the 60 seconds, SLOW DOWN. This is not a race. You will get faster but don't try and win any races right now. I slowed down (and seriously I walk faster than I run!) and I was able to do it!! Keep going and you'll be running for 30 mins in no time!!! =)
ReplyDeleteRock on! The C25K is a very solid program I have used a couple of times myself. It will totally get you to that 5k mark on time too. Just keep yourself according to the schedule and enjoy the results. :D
ReplyDeleteAnd good job pushing hard!
Great job on just getting out there and doing it. And seriously, it does get easier. It may not be the next run, but it does over time. I did so horrible with my first week that I stopped doing it for 2 months. When I came back to it, it was so much better. One day after my C25K session, I just jogged to see how far I could go without stopping... 1/2 mile I went. Who would have ever thought this fat girl could run?? I shocked myself.
ReplyDeleteJust keep doing it. You just made it through the hardest part...getting started!
